Mobile Food Pantry - $125,000
Currently Weld Food Bank does not own a Mobile Food Pantry, however
there is a great need for one. Mobile Food Pantries (MFP) are used to
facilitate large-scale food distributions at sites where there is little
infrastructure available to operate. For example, in New Raymer and
areas out east there are few organizations available to serve the needs
of the hungry in those communities. There are hungry people in rural
areas too, so it is important that we find a way to serve them. It
would not be cost-effective to open an office there, but a MFP could
travel from the food bank to a pre-determined location (parking lot of a
vacant building, for example) and do a distribution right there. A MFP
has the ability to transport dry, refrigerated, and frozen food all at
the same time, and is designed to be able to unload easily without a
loading dock. Such a unit is a critical need for the local community.
