Emergency Food Box Program

WFB provides a box of basic food staples to qualified families or individuals in crisis.  Recipients are determined by agency referral or intake evaluations by staff.  The Emergency Food Box is designed to serve a family of four for 3 days.  This shelf stable box is supplemented by donated perishable items.   29,341 food boxes were distributed to 66,457 Weld County residents in FY 12-13.

Any resident of Weld County is eligible for an EFB.  Clients must bring in proof of residency, a photo ID, and either a Social Security Card or another form of ID for the other household members.

Individuals who receive an Emergency Food Box will also receive perishable items from our “extra room.”  This is the area of the warehouse where our clients can choose from fresh produce, eggs, bread, and other perishable items that are donated from grocery stores and farmers.  Because the items are donated, the food that is available in the extra room varies from day to day.
